Clare Hennings
Director of Investments at Prudential UK & Europe
An executive member of Prudential UK, Clare Hennings has regulatory responsibility for the £170bn of assets on Prudential’s balance sheet. She is responsible for over seeing the investment and hedging strategy of the UK business, covering with-profits, annuity and unit-linked business.
Clare joined Prudential in 2015. Before that she was a Managing Director and Head of Structured Insurance Solutions at Deutsche Bank. Clare has been in the financial services industry for over 20 years. Starting her career as an options trader, she subsequently spent over fifteen years working for various investment banks, providing asset and liability solutions for insurance companies. She has been responsible for several ground breaking transactions including the Euro12bn longevity hedge for AEGON in 2012, Merlin CDO I, and securitisation of reinsurance recoverables for Hannover Re. Her teams have won several industry awards including Risk ‘Best Life Transaction’, Insurance Risk ‘Best Bank’ & ‘Best Longevity Transaction’, and The Banker ‘Best ALM Transaction’.
Clare is also an independent Governor and Chair of the Finance & Employment Committee at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
Clare holds a BSc in Mathematics from Durham University and a Masters in Finance from London Business School.
