Head of Responsible Investment EMEA, Invesco
Maria Lombardo is Invesco’s Head of Responsible Investment for the EMEA region. She has more than twenty years of experience serving in senior management roles in investment banking and equity capital markets. In recent years, Maria became an expert in responsible investing and sustainable finance. Prior to joining Invesco, she was coordinating the global investors group at CDP in London, formerly known as Carbon Disclosure Project initiative. Maria spent her earlier career working in corporate finance and private equity, with Lazard and CDC Group. She worked on agribusiness and infrastructural investments in Ecuador, Ivory Coast, India and Uganda. She then progressed into Emerging Market Equities sales, with UBS and Sberbank where she acquired specific expertise in Eastern European and Russian equities. She was a Managing Director at Unicredit, heading the group’s emerging market equity sales. During her time at CDP, she obtained a master in responsible investing at the Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership. Maria graduated from Bocconi University in Milan and holds a CEMS MBA at UCLL in Brussels and Bocconi.
